Be an Accountable Leader, Focus on Value

Become good at something

As a Project Manager, there are many hats to wear. Often times I feel like there is so much to do and learn. I LOVE it! It suits my need for distraction and apparent ADD that I didn’t know I had! Find something and become good at it – really good at it. Whether it’s following-up on open tasks, business process diagrams, team meetings, stand-ups, documentation, or anything else that you can think of – the opportunities are endless.

This is a very short list of other items that might be of interest to you – especially as you begin managing projects:

  • PMIS
  • Being curious and asking questions, gathering requirements
  • AI use for PM
  • Tailoring templates
  • Updating the project plan’

When you become good at something, pick another one. Pick three things for the year, or one thing a month to learn about. Put yourself – and your team – on a schedule.
