From confusion to clarity and consensus

Confusion, communication, clarity, consensus. I had a meeting the other day, and there was a time conflict. The meeting had been scheduled for 10:00, and a request to reschedule it for 11:00 had been made. However, this request was ignored, leading to confusion. In email. Which only adds to the confusion.

But we hashed it out, and clarity came. The consensus was to leave the meeting for 10:00, and we would work around the conflict. Yes – this could have gone smoother, and the confusion could have been avoided. However, sometimes things get messy and need to be straightened out. It’s ok.

I found this image online about the process of change and the ensuing confusion and chaos that comes from it. Getting through that confusion and being okay with it will allow clarity, consensus, and the change to happen, and things will get clear on the other side. Lean into it and embrace the confusion when it happens. Learn what caused the confusion so you can avoid it next time, or repeat it. Whichever you prefer and whatever works for the project.
